This Guatemalan, Palm leaf hat has a padded cotton twill sweatband that tends to shrink about one percent with heat and moisture. If it is a little bit too loose, just get it wet and wear it in the sunshine for the perfect fit.
Certain factors affect the fit of each chat. The tightness of the hat band: loosening, or tightening the hat band, can change the size of the hat as much as two sizes. Moisture: when wet, the palm has absorbed water, and expanded. Making the hat fit tighter. This will be the case after shaping the hat. As it dries, it will loosen up. Wearing the hat, when it is wet, will help it to conform to the shape of and size of your head.
